Topiary formation park.
The topiary park in Durbuy is undoubtedly the largest topiary sculpture park in the world! It covers 10,000 m2 and presents more than 250 plant sculptures, a collection that is truly unique in Europe. These figurines are the work of Albert Navez and are made of 95% boxwood. The oldest of these shrubs has 120 feathers on the meter but is just as green. Topiary requires a lot of patience, but what a joy for the artist who has waited for years to have a generous boxwood in front of him in which he will be able to carve a large, beautiful and prestigious figure. The imposing 4 meter high elephant is cut from an 80 year old plant! Even Yves Saint Laurent has placed a special order. You will find the reproduction, in boxwood, of the famous acronym in the park. The garden now belongs to the city of Durbuy. The artist, Albert Navez, has given way to a local horticulturist who maintains the sculptures. If you want to attend the pruning, visit the park on Tuesdays from April to October. It's a show always appreciated by kids! The Topiary Park is one of the many attractions you can visit in the Durbuy region. Book an Ardennes-Etape gite and discover the rest!
